Liszt Birthday Festival

October 21 – 23, 2011

FranzLiszt Memorial Museumand Research Centre

The participants in the three-day festival will be mainly artists who have been supporters of the Academy of Music and its Liszt Museum, who have given benefit concerts for the museum or have given performances without charge to add to the attraction of the museum’s programmes. The festival has been made possible by the enthusiasm of the performing artists, most of them teachers at the Academy of Music; its aim is to join together in celebrating Liszt’s birthday in his former home. The main theme of the festival is music on the subject of Faust; another special feature will be the opportunity for first performances of unknown variations in previously undiscovered manuscripts preserved mainly in Hungary.
