
”I take every opportunity to praise the unmatched perfection of Szekszárd wine…” – in these words Franz Liszt summed up his recognition. He was not only a returning guest in Szekszárd but also enjoyed the produce of the historical wine region around the town, including the famous kadarka of Szekszárd. And he enthusiastically promoted the red wines of the region, in Rome he even convinced Pope Pius IX of the benefi cial effect of Szekszárd wine on the mood and general health.
Even though Zoltán Kocsis is the official ambassador of the Liszt Year, the Liszt-engine might just travel to even more places than him. The engine, inaugurated on 22nd October last year is the second one bearing the name and face of a famous composer after the Haydn-engine. Instead of the usual solmization tune on Siemens-trains, it plays Hungarian Rhapsody No.2 for the travellers on board.
